Now this is great use of the silhouette! Perfect composition. The jagged edges of the branches and the extended talons of the bird are incredible against the dark blue sky. Great timing to catch bird just before it landed.

This is a lovely capture, my friend. Considering the challenges you mentioned, the beauty of this shot attests to your skills as a photographer.
The composition is very engaging. Judging from their fluffed-up feathers, it seems that they were feeling the chill (as confirmed by your weather report) and were cuddling for warmth. Their back-to-back contact is endearing, and their beaks facing opposite directions give your picture a good balance. The details on the birds are excellent and the colors came out gorgeous despite the low light. The DOF gave you an absolutely magnificent BG, and I think the square framing works very well in this situation.
All in all, an outstanding picture which will go straight to my favorites. : )

It is very nice photo but I cannot find ID. Composition is excellent and the blue sky background is wonderful. Focus is outstanding and I like the glint of light in eye. Great exposure of a rich brown color.

Beautiful photo! Focus is outstanding. Excellent details and nice glint of light in eye. Great exposure and a rich brown with complimentary background color. I looked but I could not find ID. I do not think it is a female Hepatic Tanager as some have suggested. (Female has olive-green upperparts and yellow-orange underparts with gray wash on flanks).
