I selected the subject & feathered the edge at one pixel. Then I applied a large dose of NR to your BG.

1. Reduced shadows and increased highlights.
2. Adjusted the levels, mid tones.
3. Created duplicate layer, on the duplicate I increased levels to make the shot brighter, then used Gaussian blur on the image. I then selected the blending option "Multiply". I then merged the layer back visible.
4. Adjusted the curves to bring in more light.
5. Slight sharpening using smart sharpen in CS 2.
