Hi Silvio,
This is one of those pictures which immediately attracted my attention when I opened the Gallery. Mainly because of the rich saturated colours and the beautiful composition.

However, you should also be careful when photographing water. It is important that the water line is level. In this picture the water level drops off ±5mm to the left hand side of the photo and it is exagerated by the slanting trees in the foreground. It will be easy to fix this with PS. All you have to do is select the whole image and under Edit> Transform> Rotate, you rotate the image a little bit clockwise. Then you will have to do a little bit of cropping. You should try this, and I am sure you will be satisfied with the outcome.

It is allways better to get this right when you take the picture. Next time you do a landscape with water in the frame I am sure you will pay some due attention to that aspect though.

Please note that these comments are done to assit you in improving your photographic skills. The photo is absolutely great, but I am merely looking at these points that could improve this shot even more.

I am looking forward to more pictures from you and TFS.

Regards,
Anton

Hi Patrick,

This seems to be a very tranquil scene.
It gives us a wonderful sense of this fast landscape. If I may suggest however, I think it would have been even more impressive if you did not compose it as a portrait. With a landscape composition you could have placed the lake in the bottom 1/3 on the horizontal axis, the land in the middle 1/3 axis, and the sky in the upper 1/3 axis.

You should also be careful when photographing water. It is important that the water line is level. In this picture the water level drops off ±5mm to the right hand side of the photo. Next time you do a landscape with water in the frame I am sure you will pay some due attention to that aspect though.

The colour saturation is fine and the details are nice and sharp, even with the slow shutter speed of 1/40. I am of the opinion that you should have used a higher ISO (640) and a smaller aperture (in the region of f/8+). This would have nailed the focus even more.

Please note that these comments are done to assit you in improving your photographic skills. The photo is absolutely great, but I am merely looking at these points that could improve this shot even more.

I am looking forward to more pictures from you and TFS.

Pam,
This is a great capture with the water drops in the air and the reflection providing a good composition.

Hi Andrea,
This is a great picture of the Gemsbok. I specifically like the composition and dof that shows these animals in their natural habitat. The only nit is the oof twig at the bottom. This could have been cloned out in PS.

Andrea,
The is a perfect capture of these birds. I like the composition and you managed to capture the African bush in a remarkable way. The great composition compliments the perfect dof and exposure.

Anton
