Hi Charles-

Welcome to TN and thanks for adding me as your first favorite. Hope you enjoy looking at my (sometimes very different) stuff.

On this flower, you have captured more than enough detail for someone to identify it. Unfortunately, that person is not me. I can tell you that it is not a dandelion. There are lots of plants which use similar seed dispersal methods, if that is what you are going on for ID, and it looks like this might be one of them. You may be able to locate an online flower guide if you are that ambitious. Good luck.

Ron-

Can't say much more about this one that has not already been said. The image is magical, the story is special, and your telling of it is just right. The fact that it is on my favorites list tells you all you need to know. Thanks for giving us the privilege of looking into the nest with you.

Hello Foozi-

This image is so beautiful and pure. My first reaction was that it could be a painting. The simplicity makes it special- spotless blue background and a perfect side view of the butterfly and flower. Because it is uniform, the background becomes a key visual element in a trilogy, and nothing but those three elements is visible. This is an excellent capture of the butterfly, but it is much more than that- it is an excellent work of art.

Best regards,
Bob

Hi Bruno-

Great shot of this owl. I understand how you can get this because I also use the Canon S5. I will add a note to Jane about this.

Best regards,
Bob

Hello Mikio-

Your comment on my iris made me look more at your gallery. How could I miss this picture before? This is the funniest image I have seen yet on TN! It is a very special moment and a great capture.

I have seen pictures of pelicans feeding before, but always diving into the water. I thought that their lower bills expanded because of the impact with the water, but that is obviously not true. They must have some muscles controlling the opening, both the pouch and the width of the top. Very strange!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful photo.

Best regards,
Bob

Hello Saeed-

When I saw your comment on my reflection picture, I remembered this image and went back to look at it. I was sure that I had marked it as a favorite, but I was wrong- I had not even left a comment! So here is my comment now. There is not much to add beyond what others have said, but the title is so apt. I was sure at first that the water was sand. It is a wonderful deception!

If you look at some of my posts, you will realize that I enjoy this kind of thing very much. You have done it so well with this fine photo. I'm pleased to reward you with your 100th point for this prize picture.

Best regards,
Bob

Hi Anne-

Capturing these ferns in the act of unfolding doesn't require a fast shutter speed, but it does take a good eye. You've caught some nice curling patterns, with a nicely contrasting visitor as a bonus. A very pleasing image to look at.

Hi Horia-

A superb collection, very nicely presented. The larger views will be very popular, I'm sure. Hope to see them soon. Many thanks for sharing.

Hi Subhash-

Thank you for posting such an unusual image, but also for the very good note, and especially for the exceptional reference link to the Deccan Trap page. This picture could be an aerial, but I suspect it is from land. In either case, the telephoto compression is profound. I tried a workshop to get better detail at various levels. There is so much to see in this image and very difficult to adjust for avery part of it.

Thanks for sharing this very important piece of our geological history.

Best regards,
Bob

Hi Subhash-

Nice shot of some very interesting trees and an excellent note with lots of info. It is unusual to see such a large tree growing on the beach. I'm surprised so many of them survived the tsunami. There must have been much valuable wood harvested from the downed trees during the cleanup. I wonder if the stump with no trunk, sitting just above the waterline in the right center, is left over from that, or was it broken off naturally?
