Hi Niek,
I do very much like that part of Oregon and you captured it well. It is also very pretty there in the fall. Photographing mid day is always problematical isn't it? Did you try some selective enhancing. I tried it and the dark and light areas responded pretty well. I'm hesitant to post a workshop as I am never sure if I am seeing your images correctly on my Mac. I like the inclusion of the stumps which help to break up all the green.
It's fun to see familiar places on TN. Thank for sharing it.

Hi Rick,
We are amazed at what you were able to photograph in Jasper while we saw nothing! You are amazing. Jerry went to Wyoming alone and should be home tomorrow. As it turns out the temps aren't too bad but all the color is gone. I don't think there would have been much for landscape photos but he's seen lots of moose and some elk. Moose are still fighting it out but the elk rut is over and bears are in the high country. The berry crop failed again this year and they are after some kind of nut I think. They should be hibernating soon. Your sheep look fat and healthy in preparation for winter. Actually all the moose we've seen this fall have looked very plump and healthy too. Didn't see any ghost moose in Glacier this time. Your lens seems to do the job. Was this near the road?

Hi Paul,
You certainly know how to condense the drama from most any scene. Wow. Light certainly makes the photo. Nice work.

Hi again,
This reminds me of all those shots I took at Painted HIlls. I suppose I could actually get around to posting some of them, huh? NOT! I am still in a "paralytic funk" when it comes to TN. I check it out daily but am hard pressed to actually post or critique very often. WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME??? : P
I find your vertical shot interesting as I tended to think "horizontal" when I was there. I did post a vertical shot recently. Vertical shots always make me think of you.
You did well despite the bright conditions. I've been there twice... once in bright light and once with wonderful dark threatening clouds. Clouds were more fun. I had to smile at Horia's pixel comment... Of course it wasn't. Doesn't he know you...EE??? : )

Hi Niek,
You have been busy. I love your website. I WANT ONE OF THOSE! What did you use? Do you think I could do it??
I like your vertical presentation of South Sister. I agree with Horia about the foreground. I think the dark shadows are a bit distracting. I wonder how it would have looked had you used a lower point of view, starting closer to the log, so that the ratio of land to sky could be the same. Don't you just love hindsight?! We sometimes call that "Monday morning quarterbacking" (This expression, first recorded in 1932, alludes to fans who verbally "replay" Sunday's football game the next day, the quarterback being the team member who calls the plays." Monday morning quarterbacking refers to the process of passing judgment when one has hindsight.)
Anyway...technically your image is super and the reflection is wonderful.

How funny...
I have a shot of this hummingbird too... sitting on the exact same twig. This is funny because we weren't there at the same time! I guess he likes that particular spot. Nice capture.

I really like the gradations of color in these leaves, Anne. The sun shining through them accents the veins and intensifies the color nicely. It is perfectly exposed and sharp.

"Innocent!?" HAH! Not hardly! These guys are rascals and bandits to be sure. But they are cute, endearing really, and they can often get a way with their mischievous ways. Who can resist those "innocent eyes"?
This is a beautifully exposed sharp image. I just wish he'd quit staring at me!

I really like the composition here with the repeating curves. The color is gorgeous. I too am glad that you were there to capture it.

Hi Asbed,
What a great photo for your #500. I know your passion is birds in flight, but this is great too. Don't be too strict with yourself and deny us shots like this one. : )
Congratulations on 500 posts and 9000 critiques! You are a dedicated TN participant. Thanks.
