Wonderful scenery, Patrick, and I like the composition as it is.
Great to see others trying to help out with workshops, but it seems to me that sharpening does not help as the original is lacking too much in this respect. Also, the burnt out highlight of the snow seem to stand out even more in the workshops.
My suggestion is to try to underexpose a bit when taking the photo to get more highlight detail. If this does not provide a solution or is impractical at the time, I would clone at a very low opacity repeatedly from a shadow area or from the blue sky until enough texture and colour has built up from these highlights to be believable.
There must be some technical reason why there's a general lack of sharpness in your photos. This is a great pity, and I hope you can work out why this is happening.
Yours,
Andrew.
Very well captured with that pose, Patrick. Just a shame about the focus not being spot on, though.
I think I might have cropped a bit from the bottom as I find it has a rather heavy look to it.
Still a nice shot.
Regards,
Andrew.
Hi Patrick.
Looks like a nice area to have a walk around and relax.
I like the composition, but find the it still lacking in sharpness. I realise, however, that you may have had problems because this is a scan, so do not want to be too harsh in criticising.
I thought NeatImage only removed noise. Is that what you mean?
Beautiful cloud formations, with the highlights well captured, which I feel is so important in this type of photograph.
The low horizon is really effective here.
Yours,
Andrew.
Love the content and the vertical format, Niek, but find the lack of sharpness a bit of a problem.
This is unfortunate, as it would have been a stand out shot if it had had a crisper look.
Yours,
Andrew.
A nice capture, Heloise, with good colours.
It seems that you just need to work on sharpness in your photographs.
I look foward to seeing more from you in the future.
All the best,
Andrew.
What a beautiful composition, Emma.
Looks so good with the strong image of the deer against that subtle background.
The format you've chosen through cropping is very effective, too.
Interesting note and link.
Yours,
Andrew.
Well Evelynn, I like it very much as it is, too.
I don't think it is necessary to stick to "the rules" when you can see another possibility that works for you, and in any case -- as has already been mentioned by others -- the horizon's not exactly centered here. I can understand your concern in mentioning it, though, because it is something that is often focussed on in a review.
The photograph looks very good. I like how you've captured the cloud highlights. For me, this is very important, as nothing kills a landscape as much as burnt out highlights in the sky, as far as I'm concerned.
Looks like a beautiful place, too.
All the best,
Andrew.

A pleasant shot of this river, Mandy.
Hopefully, you'll have better skies in the future to add interest to your images.
I would personally try to bring out a bit of detail in the shadows in postprocessing.
Congratulations on your first photograph on TrekNature, in any case.
Yours,
Andrew.
