Hi Steve
I found one of these on the inside of my window a few weeks back but my photos didn't come out as good as yours, and I don't remember my one having those patterns. The one I found was almost transparent it was so young, although by the next day it was starting to darken. At first I didn't realize what it was but Peter recognized it as a Weta straight away... which immediately put me right off it! LOL!
Your image has excellent detail and the Weta stands out well from the plain background. Well done.

Hi Steve
How unusual to see toadstools in the Spring. Nice clear shot with excellent detail; good to see the tripod is coming in useful.

Good detail, composition and POV. The exposure on the whites is well-handled considering the hard lighting. Well done.

Nice and simple which in turn makes a very effective image. Makes one feel cold too!

Nice shot. They are certainly fascinating to watch. Back in my days of film I spent about 30 rolls of Velvia recording the life cycle of the Monarch. The thing to watch for here is when the top of the Chrysalis gets two 'pleats' then you know the final moult is imminent.
Have you photographed the moults during the caterpillar stage? The 4th one is particular interesting as by then the caterpillar is quite large and the changes more easily observed.
