Brrrr...
Very nice shots of very nasty insects! Where they come, the trees have to go, as their larvae can rapidly kill a large number of them by eating the floem layer between bark and hardwood.
I have experienced this on 4 Pinus strobus and it's not over yet.
Thanks for posting
Hello Arnold,
It's the young foliage of an "Acer palmatum" (Japanese maple).
There are more than 250 varieties and they are often used for Japanese gardens and bonsai. A real classical Japanese tree.
The picture lacks some DOF. This kind of close-up photo needs at least a f16 - f22 stop to show enough details.
Kind Regards,
Frans
Hello Jorge,
The picture speaks for itself: good angle, perfect timing, crispness AND a tale to tell -even if that's just our own interpretation ;-)
Congratulations,
Frans
Hallo Harm,
Frans
Hello Felipe and Christina,
Excellent field depth, right on te spot, enhanced by the touch of light, leaving the back- and foreground flowers in light shade and attracting all the attention on the main subject.
Congratulations,
Frans
Hello Birgit,
Nice shot! They are hard to spot with their camouflage colours and without any movement.

Bonjour Jean Louis,
Bravo!
