We get used to pictures of single birds, so this busy shot of many, and of two types - the pelicans and cormorants - is different and very pleasing. Excellent sharp focus and a nice blend of birds and water.

Hi Everton;
Wood ducks are exotic indeed, but lady mallards are sort of ordinary. One of the challenges of bird photography is to try and not take pics of them on the ground - never works well. Now I know that the philosophy of the Trek sites is only to be highly complimentary, so I hope these comments are OK with you. I'm glad that you enjoyed Reifel here in British Columbia.
All the best,
John

Hi Steve,
I preferred the genetic aberration that you imported from the Emerald Isle to the land of the Kiwis. As you drank the dark brown stuff you created a hithertofore never seen Amanita. But I still would grumble about the bright background. I've been known to cheat by putting a dark jacket behind the "subject" to keep the background unobtrusive. But if you are a purist, that's a no-no. However, best of greetings from your ex-colonial northern neighbour.
Cheers,
John

Very cute pair and a lovely photo. I'd be tempted to use the dodge tool to slightly lighten up the areas around the eyes.

Hi,
Not the world's best picture of mallards, but its what is happening and the story that counts. Very interesting. Haven't seen this happen but will pay more attention to this ruthless male behaviour.
Cheers,
John

This is very beautiful but a little imperfect. I think you should crop off the top a bit and its not quite sharp enough. Probably the focus wasn't quite right, but perhaps you could sharpen it a little more in PShop.
Best regards,
John

Lovely portrait. Nice and sharp, lovely colours and well positioned in the frame.

Not only have you captured the cormorant in a perfect profile you have caught it in the moment of having a perfect poo! Very unusual for a bird photo. Excellent!

Hi Steve,
Good to hear from you re my last posting. I come and go on TN.
This is amazing a) because of the colour of this Amanita, and b)your lovely rendition/invention of this discovery.
I'm becoming a little obsessive-compulsive perhaps - but if you wanted to make this perfect you could clone out some of the overblown highlights in the background, and even tone down the reflections on your mushroom. But thats nit-picking!
Cheers mate.

Wow! Those legs!! Great shot of a stilt. Beautifully sharp silhouette with excellent placement in the frame and a nice catchlight in the eye - very well done. And the texture of the water is very pleasing.
