Hello Rick,
Good positioning of the bird, DOF is excellent, looks to be very difficult lighting, exposure is off, as you didn't use any fill flash, I would have increased the F stop to 6.3- 7.1 in AV mode & used exposure compensation or bracketed the shot, also used center weight metering, love the sound of these birds, they frequent our garden on a daily basis.

Hi Tom,
Wonderful capture of this black winged stilt, I haven't seen one before, maybe a little over-exposed on the white feathers of the bird, I would have tended to have my F- stop around 7.1- 8.0, but easier said in hindsight

Hello Marnic,
Using the tripod is a great start, although you have a 18x optical zoom this still looks like a large crop, try setting your camera to manual, remember the moon is very bright, so try F-11 & 1/80- 1/120 with ISO400, if you can set your camera to center weight average instead of pattern metering this may also help, hope this helps.

Hi Rick,
Nice capture of this Pale-Headed Rosella, we had one come in the backyard today, he was to quick for me,you must have had difficult lighting to use those settings, IMO I would have used iso 400, F-6.3- 7.1 with 200- 350 shutter speed also the lower iso would have helped reduce the noise.
