Little Bee-eater photographed along the Chobe River near Serondela in Chobe National Park.

Another of Botswana's beautiful birds - as its name suggests this is the smallest of Botswana's bee-eaters and arguably the most common being found in a wide range of habitats. This bee-eater is one of the few in Botswana that is not a summer visitor.

For the photo I used a homemade bean-bag (1kg of rice in a sewn up bag) to stabilise the lens on the car window.

The photo has been cropped since the bird was too far from the car to fill the frame....

Now that is a gem of a little bird, Philip.
You captured it with sharp details and gorgeous colors.
The bee-eater is a bit too centered, but with his beautiful plumage, he is probably used to being in center-stage. TFS. : )

Hello Philip,
This is a lovely shot! It's very clear, colours and light are really nice and warm, details are preety good too. Pity that you couldn't get closer.
Overall, great post.
WELL DONE!

Hello Philip,

Paul

Hi Philip

Nice shot with good exposure and colours. I like the angled branch. The out of focus (OOF) background (BG) compliments the shot nicely. I just wish the image was bigger.

Hi Phlip,
It is a beautiful bird, and the exposure is spot on. But the bird is exactly at the center which is what i would have avoided. have a look at my workshop to see how i would have composed, let me know what do you think of my composition!!

Hi Philip,Good image of this very colourful small bird. A zoom showing more details would be good to see. I especially like the green colours. TFS. Murray.
