[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The girls rule as one can see from the way she walks, showing confidence to the point of arrogance being at the top of the food chain in the Botswana Kalahari. Although male lions are called King by just about everyone, it is the girls who rule the night. They do most of the hunting (not all of it is some might tell you) as the males see themselves as protector and lover only. Hunting during daytime is very difficlut as you can see from the short grass in this arid environment. It is green because the Kalahari had some rain just before my recent visit.
This is ther leading lady of the pride walking purposefully, eyes unwavering on a wildebeest herd in the distance.
She is the sister of the female that I mentioned in my earlier posting (of the big male), the pregnant one.
Although the females are not as powerfull as the males they work together as a group when hunting, usually in support of the leading female, showing real Girl Power in bringing down antelope, sometimes 3 times their size.

She looks in shape, Nico. Quite difficult lighting conditions with the backlit subject, but you managed it really well; no harsh light or shadows, just exactly it needs.

Regards, Petru

Beautiful colours and a great mix of background and foreground out of focus making the lioness really stand out.

Very nice Nico!
It must be a wonderful experience to be able to observe and photograph these in the wild...
I love your ongoing commentary about the affairs in their lives and their ways...
Great composition!
Thanks,
Dave

Boy, I'm glad that stare isn't fixed on me! You really captured the power and determination of this animal and just enough fang to take her very seriously!

By the way, where were you when you took this shot? : )

Hi, Nico.
Looks like this dangerous guy is intrested in something. Nice shot. Good exposure, and sharpness.

Lovely shot!
There is a self confidence in her look.
Picture has superb POV, very good details and framing. Maybe light is slightly harsh, buit overall it looks very good.
I like it.

Fantastic POV, Nico.
I love the intensity of her stare and the power of her gait. Just a great POV with that paw just barely off the ground.
Well done and TFS. : )
