[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This male was photographed at Sandibe in the Okavango Delta. He was resting with his brother who was lying to the right of this photo.
We were incredibly fortunate to find them because we had followed their tracks and come across a herd of impala who were looking in the direction of the lions - basically behind us - so we scanned the open dried seasonal floodplain - saw nothing - then both the guide and I saw a 'bump' which had not been there previously - upon investigation we found the two male lion - when lying down you could not see them at all. They were very full and not interested in the impala (or us). In the evening we returned to see if they were going hunting, but they were still sleeping and not stirring at all.
I have cropped this photo and sharpened it slightly. Also made it a bit brighter as the shade tended to spoil the shot.

Hi Liz,

A great story and a very nice picture you show us here,sharp and detailed considering the difficult light,by the way I hope you were in a car and not in a small cano,the transportation I used when I was in the okavago delta,
