[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken at Limpopo River Lodge. This Lodge has two walks you can do along the Limpopo River which are excellent for birds.

I noticed these stunning Bee-eaters hawking insects from a perch over the river so set up my tripod to wait for them to land which this one obligingly did! I kept the ISO speed at 400 in order to get a fast enough shutter speed to capture these fast moving birds - hence the slightly grainy appearance of the water behind.

This Bee-eater is one of the few that is not a summer visitor to Botswana and can be seen in a variety of habitats throughout the year. Usually seen in small flocks as they hawk insects from a perch.

Hi Philip,
Great catch of this bee eater, I have seen them in the Kruger too but to far away. They are wonderfull of colours. Yours is sharp and a very nice POV and BG.

Nice capture here Philip,

You've done a good job getting all the bird sharp and leaving an out of focus background. The colours have been reproduced excellently and you show a good point of view. I'm not sure about the frame.

a great and beautiful picture. One of which I hope to make one someday. I agree with simon about the frame, but then again I'm not so keen on frames at all but that's just personal.

Very good colors, exposure, POV, DOF, details, and composed well. The neutral gray background works well to set-off this colorful bird.
I would clone-out the two OOF branches that come into the frame. They don't need to be there, and distract from your subject a bit..

Beautiful shot!! Love the sharpness of the image, the composition and the DOF. The 2 OOF branches could be cleaned up to give more emphasis to the bird - however, a lovely shot.
