I found this rare grasshopper near Manengouba lakes in Littoral province (Cameroon).
The lakes are considered sacred by natives: bathing in woman lake is permitted to common people but man lake is permitted only to wizards.

Hi Alberto

it's a very nice grasshopper, probably from the genus Zonocerus (Acrididae), and a cool photo

grasshoppers, katydids and mantids are my favourites, and W Africa has some wonderful species, I hope you will post more

interestingly, you speak same languages as I do :)) I would love to visit Cameroon in the near future (I was in Sao Tome recently .. my first and only experience with black Africa, was quite amazing, I loved it)
