I have often thought of experiencing both the history and wildlife of Egypt...who knows?

una foto veramente magnifica e non facile da realizzare!
La messa a fuoco del capo e degli stranissimi occhi è perfetta.

Determinare un insetto da questa prospettiva è un'impresa assai difficile e spesso azzardata.
Ma, in questo caso, siamo fortunati.
Gli occhi zebrati di questo dittero Syrphidae sono davvero inconfondibili.
Si tratta di Eristalinus taeniops (Wiedemann 1818), presente in Europa e anche in Africa Settentrionale.
Puoi vedere numerose immagini di confronto in questa pagina web.
Posso aggiungere che si tratta di un maschio.
La femmina, infatti, ha gli occhi divisi da una larga banda interoculare (vedi questa immagine).

This is a magnificent macro taken from a very rare POV - full frontal on a flying insect is something i've seen on very few occasion.
That is what makes it special i think :)
I also like the stripes on this fly's eyes very much and of course teh grat sharpness and magnification.
