[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Little Egret forms a superspecies with the Snowy Egret (Egretta thula) with the Little Egret being present in the Old World while the Snowy Egret is found in the New World. Widely distributed including Southern Europe, much of Asia, North and East Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

The Little Egret is more delicate-looking than any other heron-like bird. It is much smaller than a Grey Heron, with snowy white plumage, a long pointed black bill and black legs with strikingly yellow feet.

They are found in a wide variety of open wetland type of habitat, such as lakes, reservoirs, rivers, brackish lagoons and saltpans, where they feed during the day on a variety of animals such as insects, frogs, reptiles, etc.. They use a variety of hunting techniques including foot stirring with its bright yellow feet which seems to attract prey within the range of its bill. Breeds in waterside trees and bushes. It is partially migratory with more northern populations migrating south during the northern winter.

Critiques [Translate]

Hello Walt

Lovely capture. Good POV. Is the orange/yellow tinge i the head plumage the suns reflection or the plumage colour? Nice work. Thanks.

Hi Walt,

I just did a search on Egypt and this popped up, what an excellent shot of this Little Egret, I'm stunned that this has been viewed over one thousand times yet you only have one critique, well I like it, wish I could give you more smiles, and any advice on lens to take to Egypt would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Rick :)
