Congratulations, Sabine, on coming across a Plain Tiger in Egypt. BTW, it is so common here in India I see one flying around occasionally despite the cold weather.
This is a very good capture with sharp focus and bright colours.

We have not these species in our place too (I think). It is really amazing and you good luck photographer that could meet it and take so amazing picture. All is wonderful. Impressive at high range low POV, superb sunlight and vibrant colours, great DOF and crisp sharpness of the butterfly and green grass. Bravo and best wishes.

This is great! Marvellous to be able to take a fine shot like this of a tropical butterfly in its natural surroundings instead of a butterfly house. You captured this Plain Tiger with good sharpness and from a fine low POV when it had its wings closed.

Hi Sabine,
Good details and natural colors. Never seen one on the grass and so low.
This week I followed the whole process of the monarch taking photos during the different stages and this moring it came out of the chrisalid and flew away after 2 hours drying its wings. I'll make a serie next week.
I like yours, and your wonderfull dragonfly smileys!!

chose rare pour nous europeen de voir un monarque mais je ne desepere pas de les voir arriver en france car j'ai vue un photo prise dans le sud sur TN.
couleurs vives et bonne netteté a defaut d'un POV ideal.

I am sure you did not mind on bit that this guy had to hang on to the grass for dear life to prevent being blown away by the strong wind. This afforded you the perfect opportunity to capture it in all its spectacular beauty.

Hallo Sabine,
da muss man ja gratulieren zu dem Fang. Schoen diesen Falter in freier Natur zu sehen, ich hab das glueck dass wir die in Canada haben es ist immer ein gerngesehener Gast in meinem Garten.
Wird noch ne Weile dauern das ich sie sehe, daher erfreu ich mich an deinem Bild umso mehr.
KLasse festgehalten, die Farben stecken voller Sonne, und vertreiben wein wenig die Winterlaune.

The Plain Tiger is one of the most common butterflies seen in India.

was für ein hübscher schmetterling, sabine! :-) und dann auch noch trinkend im gras in freier wildbahn...perfekter kann es kaum sein.
klasse makro-aufnahme mit guter schärfe und schönen leuchtenden farben. irgendwie hatte ich bisher noch kein so großes glück mit schmetterlingen.
