Firstly apologies for yet another Black Kite posting, I promise this will be the last unless I see one here in Queensland.

This was also taken early morning as we arrived at a site called "Es-Subu, Old Nubia" whilst sailing on Lake Nasser, and I guess the reason for this posting is I wanted to show the stark landscape.

For the four days we sailed and this was basically the view, Sand and rocks and lots of it, we did stop on several occasions during the trip and saw some amazing temples with some stunning art work.

For some extra information on the Black Kite please refer to the Previous Post
, many thanks for looking.

Details; Shot Raw converted to Jpeg, Cropped and re-sized sharpened slightly for posting.

Hello Richard,

Fantastic capture.
Nice colours with excellent details.
Lighting and definition are good.

Hallo Rick
Why apologize? I am sure we all enjoy the postings of the Black Kite, well I do. I really like this image. It is plain, yet so different and I find the words to explain what I see rather difficult. I just know that looking at the landscape in your photo, I don’t think that I would like to see sand and rocks all the time, however the huge bird makes up for the lack of flowers or greenery which in my own opinion I would love to have around me. I like the different shapes of the rocks and the colour of the sand reminds me of the spice “turmeric”. Thanks for sharing flashes by ways of photos from your recent trip. It allows me to see parts of the world I would never been able to see in my lifetime.
Best regards
Anna

Hi Rick,

This would be a fantastic landscape with the unusual colored sand and wonderful rocks. Add the Black Kite and wow!! I love the way he is perched and looking over the scene. The details of the bird's face and plummage are excellent. A marvelous composition.

hello Richard

this one it is a superb shot, very fine POV, DOF and framing,
i love to see with the subject, here the Black Kite, his environement,

i have a bridge style camera with equivalent of 300mm lens
lasy summer i buyed a small compact with equivalent of 180mm lens,
i am loving more to shoot with the compact
because he has image stabilizer that the birdge does not have,

since i am doing images with compact wher i can not
zoom to much, i am strating to love this kind of photos
where the subject (bird or wild animal) is small
and where we can see his environement his habitat,
and even if one day i will have a D-SLR with superb zoom,
i will prefer this kind of photos, i love your image, TFS

Hi Rick,

A very handsome subject and in beautiful surroundings, an excellent composition. Minor complaint: the image appears to be over-sharpened, as there are very visible white sharpening halos around the bird and particularly on the black edge of the underside of the rock it's sitting on.

Other than that, a superb image.

Hello Rick

What a unique looking setting.
Wonderful light and colours.
The focus is excellent with sharp details.
The kite is seen with lovely detail.
Well done.

I like this composition Richard,
The stark landscape with its scattered rocks,
and light colored sand makes it work very well.
Great job & Merry Christmas mf.
