What can I say: the biggest bird on the planet, the male ostrich vs. the biggest/tallest animal on Earth. the giraffe in a real life survival duel...
This is eventually the last of the worthy sunset shots of African large animals from the ,,Wayang series,,. An unusual (to us) duel between a large male ostrich and the youngest giraffe from the pack of three present at the time in the park. I had no filter (Nikon CP 8800 accesories not in the market yet) so I enriched the colour in Adobe Photoshop. Some members like Crypton went as far as acusing me of a ,,collage,, fake photo, well after a good laughter I decided would be good to post a detail section of the original picture overly lit so you can see the details of the animals blending in with the ground if you have any problems believing, here is the link: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v353/paginacastel/ForFrenchie.jpg
I think this not your every walk in the park, I almost think of it as a documentary image as I see both animals giraffe and ostrich as being entirelly non-agressive species, but the curious young giraffe aproached the young ostrich chicks and big papa replied by making himself big and run straightforward ready to clash fearless.
The largest percent of people likely think of the ostriches as brainless birds, by many portrayed as giant feathered retards for no reasons, I strongly believe this bird is a majestic, spirited and even clever extraordinary member of the aviary world and we should give them more credit.
No one should close their eyes forever until they have seen an ostrich family running together or a silhouette of a giraffe against a sleepy sun, and I truely mean in reality, images are beautiful but reality will make you cry or maybe its just me being sentimental !

Just great... Perfect well done.

Lovely piece of art. Pity it's the last in the series. They were all great. Well done

Your safari shots are all so beautiful, and this is no exception. I love the silhouette!

Radu, This ones great! The time of day that includes the red sky-line adds just enough light to give back some details to your subjects. Wonderful variation! I think you're onto something here!! Great post!!!

The colors add drama to this scene. Once in a life time capture. Maybe the last. Hey, I can hear National Geographic calling, $$$$$$$
Well done

Mike

Very nice work. I have to thank Crypton this time. Due to his comment, I could see the original photo and realized the great work you did with postprocessing. Liked very much your photos, but have been away and have no time to comment all. Thanks.

Hi Radu, I think it's as good as the others in the series and I have enjoyed them all...all good things must come to an end.

Thanks for these.

L'immagine è molto interessante! Solo una imperfezione nella lavorazione del cielo, bella idea, non è un fotomontaggio!

Nice composition Radu!
This is such beautiful !

Just great... Perfect well done.
I now is just a copy and paste but it's so true !

Hello Radu,
Very unique compo. I like the light through the white feathers of the bird and the way he moves with open mouth.
Great post. Thanks. Thomas
