| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| This large black, white and grey bird is the easiest plover to identily in our region, and its bold pattern also makes it easily distinguishable in flight. The immature is a duller version of the ad. with brown feathering replacing the black. Habitat : Damp areas at the edges of wetlands, and adjoining grasslands and fields where it feeds. Common in all but the dry west of the region. Call : A very vocal species with its loud, ringing "tink, tink, tink alarm call. |
