[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This large black, white and grey bird is the easiest plover to identily in our region, and its bold pattern also makes it easily distinguishable in flight. The immature is a duller version of the ad. with brown feathering replacing the black. Habitat : Damp areas at the edges of wetlands, and adjoining grasslands and fields where it feeds. Common in all but the dry west of the region. Call : A very vocal species with its loud, ringing "tink, tink, tink alarm call.
