| During the months of July and August some 250,000 zebras, 1,500,000 Wildebeest and 350,000 Thomson's Gazelles migrate from Serengeti to Masai Mara to reach green lands. During this period one of the most exciting time is thier crossing of Mara river. It is a time of excitement both for them and of course for us. We have spent three days waiting for the crossing of the animal at one of seven passage points. but in vain.. Their nuber increased from a mrer thousand to about 5,000. But not one animal gathered enough courage to enter the river. To the contrary, the three zebras that have already crossed the river and that were waiting for their group to join them, could not wait anymore. They have responded to the call of their group on the other side and crossed the river back! They swam back safely. This is the photo of one of them. |
