El guepardo, (o chita o Acinonyx jubatus) es un miembro atípico de la familia de los felinos, que caza gracias a su vista y a su gran velocidad. Es el animal terrestre más veloz alcanzando 120km/h en carreras cortas.
Su hábitat actual son las llanuras y planicies de África y de algunos países orientales. Se conservan unos 12 mil ejemplares, la mayor parte en reservas y parques naturales, donde son protegidos.
A diferencia del resto de los felinos, sus uñas no son retráctiles sino que le sirven para aumentar la adherencia. Puede alcanzar velocidades de hasta 110 kilómetros por hora, pero su formidable carrera no puede prolongarse por más de 500 m.

Suele prodigar sus atenciones a las gacelas impala y thomson, aunque tampoco hace asco a las crías de otros mamíferos, especialmente de ñu y cebra.

The guepardo (or chita or Acinonyx jubatus) is an atypical member of the family of felines that game thanks to its view and its high speed. It is the fastest land animal reaching 120km / h in short careers.
Its current habitat are the plains and plains of Africa and some Eastern countries. There are about 12 thousand copies, mostly in reserves and national parks, where they are protected.
Unlike the rest of the felines, their nails are not shrink but which serve to increase the bond. It can reach speeds up to 110 kilometers per hour, but his formidable career can not last more than 500 m.

Hola José,
Though taken at some distance this is an excellent action shot showing a Cheetah catching a gazelle. Nice colours and lighting and good composition but the image is a little over-sharpened.

the thumbnail i thought was some lions sitting on the grass but when i clicked open i can see what a good shot..although at a distance it is true trek nature showing ...the game ..the predator..the bush and the escaping animal
never got to see this in action so i congratulate you

This is one amazing action shot!
I'm guessing that at that speed it's really difficut to keep a cheetah so neat and sharp.
Yet, you managed it here and the capture is stunning...definitely not something we see ofther here on TN.
Did it catch this impala in the end?
