Lions are unique in that they are the only cats to live in groups (prides). They are the largest member of the cat family and the largest of all the African carnivores. They are are the top predator in any African ecosystem where they live.

Amazing portrait of the majestic animal. I welcome strong impressive cropping and great quality of the image. I like wonderful sunlight, expression of the lion eyes, nice reproduction of all its details and stems on the FG. My kind regards and best wishes.

Hi Stefan,

It was good that you were using a 500 mm lens to keep some distance. I like the eye contact and natural colours that you have captured and the tight crop of the face. The grass stalks show that he is were he belongs in his own environment.

A superb and stunnning photo of this male lion. Simply one of the best I have ever seen here on TrekNature. You have caught him at a moment where you seem to have attracted some attention to yourself...and he is giving you that look that only lions seem to be able to give...one that goes right through you. Really a great shot.
