Lion: Panthera Leo
The lion is a mammal of the cat family.
It is a carnivore. It consumes approximately 7 kg of meat per day.
The male can weigh between 150 and 250 kg, the female between 120 and 180 kg.
It is no season for the coupling in the lions. The females are fertile every 3 months. The coupling is short, less than one minute. But the copulations are numerous, from 15 to 20 per day, and they are painful for the female.
During the coupling, it is not uncommon that the male bites the female seriously.
After a gestation period of 110 days , the female can put at the world from 1 to 4 lion cubs.
At the time of our safari in the National park of Masaï Mara, my wife and me had the extraordinary chance to attend this scene of the life. I could take some photographs of this event. Those, I selected two of them. Not knowing which to choose, I preferred to present them together to you.

Le lion est un mammifère de la famille des félidés.
C'est un carnivore. Il consomme environ 7 kg de viande par jour.
Le mâle peut peser entre 150 et 250 kg, la femelle entre 120 et 180 kg.
Il n'y a pas de saison pour l'accouplement chez les lions. Les femelles sont fécondes tous les 3 mois.
L'accouplement est bref, moins d'une minute. Mais les copulations sont nombreuses, de 15 à 20 par jour, et elles sont douloureuses pour la femelle.
Pendant l'accouplement, il n'est pas rare que le mâle morde sérieusement la femelle.
Après une gestation de 110 jours, la femelle peut mettre au monde de 1 à 4 lionceaux.
Lors de notre safari dans le Parc national de Masaï Mara, mon épouse et moi avions eu la chance extraordinaire d'assister à cette scène de la vie.
J'ai pu prendre quelques photos de cet évènement. De celles-ci, j'en ai sélectionnées deux. Je n'ai pas pu résister à l'envie de vous les présenter ensemble.
