at the ark..aberdare
this cape buffalo comes to the salt lick to spend the day..and as we discovered the whole night as well..
as we can see it is covered with the parasitic birds which clean its hide of insects

Looks like a "win win" situation between the buffalo and the birds.
The pic looks slightly overexposed to me, but you have captured a very interesting relationship here between the birds and the buffalo.
Nice job!
Thanks for sharing,
Dave

Hi Geof,
it's a powerful buffalo you have caught. The composition and POV are very good. Nice colours too.
Spmething has happend with the sharpen, maybe its to much cropped.
Well done.

Hello Geof, Great shot with the birds doin' their gleaning task! ;-) Well composed and well seen. Great post. Thank you!

Cheeze-laaik this is a walking bird park :-) Very interesting shot. Good composition. I am sure those birds pecking away at the insects must also have a theraputic effect?

Nice shot and TFS

What a great capture, Geof. A very unusual scene between the buffalo and the birds. Just wonderful. The focus is a bit soft, but a very interesting shot. Well done and TFS. : )
A warm welcome to TN. : )

This is an old bull, we call them Dagga Boys. I agree that it looks slightly overexposed, but I know how difficult it is to get a good pic of a Cape Buff. He seems very popular within the oxpecker community though. TFS

Hi Geof, nice moment you've captured. I like the birds congregated on the buffalo. The lighting looks close to midday which makes exposure a headache. I also agree with Gert about the sharpening, It looks quite harsh, I'd like to see the original shot without any PP - was it soft in focus? maybe you could post it for us to do some workshops?

Very well done.

Hi Geof
The oxpeckers are really nice, and this is truly a big old dagha boy. Dagha is a word we use for mortar or concrete mix, and it refers to the mud often sticking to these guys.
Overall impression of the animal in the frame is nice, but the PP sharpening is too much - try and fade sharpening afer you have applied it.

Bonjour Geof,
Une superbe prise de cet autobus africain... La composition très serrée permet d'apprécier la force de l'animal. Beau travail. Merci. Gérard

Great shot Geof!!! the ark... I've been there about 11 years ago!!! Love the shot with all the birds!!!

One of the most fascinating animal photos!!!!! Too sharp? the birds at all angles, the look on the buff face, is so fantastic! But what happened to the print?

They think it is a bus ! But i thik it's good the buffalo as well, so it's released of its unwelcome locators, the parasites. TFS.
