Le Rollier à longs brins est l'un des plus beaus oiseaux du monde. On le rencontre fréquemment dans toute son aire de répartition. Il cohabite souvent avec le Rollier d'Europe qui a la queue dépourvue de rectrices allongées et le ventre bleue, et le Rollier à raquettes dont les rectrices latérales son évasées au bout. Comme tous les Rolliers, le Rollier à longs brins aime se percher en haut des arbres. Certains se laissent approcher, d'autres non. Celui-ci était particulièrement peu farouche.
