[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This small highlight (length about 5 to 6 cm), I found in the shadow of trees resting on a fern leaf on Masoala Peninsula on the east side of Madagascar. More than 150 different frogs occur on Madagascar and most are to be found only here (with the exception of 2 species). Probably further new species can be discovered here, before - and this is a large problem in Madagascar - the remaining forest patches have been cleared. Erosion can be observed all over the island leaving large areas of non-fertile red-brown soil.
I did not find out the name of this species. Perhaps, someone can help.

After some months non-identified, the species has a name now:
-- Heterixalus punctatus
-- Spotted reed frog

Very nice picture, Peter. Sorry but I can't help for ID. This is really a cute little frog, with a strange white color, I have never seen this before. You're lucky to havie found such a nice animal. Well done !

What a wonderfull photo. never seen this frog before. I like it very much!

Great POV with the bulging eyes easily seen. I like the colors and how the green blends in with the fern.

P.S. If your ID on my moth is correct, it's the first time it's been seen in my state of Georgia. I'm having it positively identified by a state expert to make it official! Thanks!

Could this be a Spotted reed frog (Heterixalus punctatus)? If so it looks like something rare. According to this site, it could occur on the Masoala Peninsula.

your scientific explanation is very educational and useful to me. Your photo also allows me to diversify my thinking on all types of these species you got. Really out of my mind to imagine of these colours.
