Hello Albert,
a nice discovery presented to us. In spite of its strong colours, the specimen appears camouflaged
probably due to the specific colour distribution and pattern.
You focused precisely on the body as canbe seen by the fine and detailed surface structures.
Depth of field, however, could be slightly broader to increase sharpness of the legs.

A finely executed close up of this colorful, little frog Albert, a well exposed image in sharp focus and excellent detail my friend. I think an aperture of f/5.6 would widen the DOF enough to render the legs in good focus though...

Hallo Albert,
Ik dacht eerder aan Latijns-Amerika zoals 't amazonegebied waar je van die kleine fel gekleurde kikkers kunt vinden en dus niet in Madagaskar? Komen daar veel soorten voor en zijn ze gemakkelijk te spotten. Waarschijnlijk wel:-). Zijn ze 'common'?

At 2.5cm, it is a really very small frog, Albert.
But it is like a jewel alright; look at those bold and rich colours on it.
I would treat it as a macro shot of a very high quality.

Hi Albert

This is indeed a jewel! What a nice find!
I think it's a great feeling for a European to actually find something like this in the wild in his/her travels :)

This is an excellent shot, focusing very well on the vibrant colors and contrast of this Mantella.
The way it stands out from the surroundings in quite remarkable and with such a color palette, predators there should know to be aware.
The details of your shot are excellent, the texture of the skin of the frog is very well rendered and the DOF used is well chosen.

I would never have thought a frog could have such amazing colors and pattern. It is one thing to hav a good eye and to spot this little guy... and another thing to be ready with the camera. You did both well. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Hello Albert,
What a great contribution to TN! This must be new. You present this small frog, the Malagasy Mantella from a fine POV with pretty good sharpness against the dead leaves to show us the features. It seems to combine both camouflage and warning colouration, which may indicate unpalatabilty.

I saw some colourful frogs when I was in Central America, but nothing like this. What an amazing species, surely a new one for TN. I certainly haven't seen it before.
