Female elephant on guard

This photo was taken while we were boating on a river at Mvuu Camp in Luwonde National Park.
We saw a herd of elephants crossing the river. When they had reached the other bank, and as the group was walking away, this large female turned around in a defensive posture. We were impressed.

She is awesome! Full display like that would send anyone or anything scattering! Marvellous natural capture--lucky you! Must have been the trip of a lifetime. Very impressive for a 300mm shot! Well done!

What a great capture of this elephant with his huge ears all fanned out. Magnificent animal. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime kind of moment. TFS. : )
