Could not find its reference in the 'Map of Etosha' and I doubted whether this was a Korhaan. Of course, this isn't Etosha.
I was convinced about the identification through this link here
In Etosha you have the big Kori Bustard, the Red-crested korhaan and Northern black korhaan.
Compared to Kruger where you also have the Kori bustard and furthermore the Black-bellied bustard and the Red-crested korhaan.

Through its sandy appearance, the Rüppel's korhaan has an efficient camouflage in the desert. And as you could read in the link, it's definitely a desert species.

Hello Annick !
What a cute and gracious bird you have found here, I love its long neck, and I also like the pose in which you have captured this one. The light and the natural colors look gorgeous, and you have composed the picture very beautifully. Very well done !
Valerie.

The low angled light adds a lot to this image, Annick. It is a nice classic pose in a beautifully executed image. I like the toning colors that unify the image.

Hello Annick,

I like the way you have used the DOF, showing sharply the bird and isolating it from the rest of the scene. The sharp image is showing well the bird with good details of the plumage. Even if the lighting solution you have chosen, with light comming from behind the bird, is difficult you have got nice and naturaly looking colors.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hello Annick,
An excellent capture of this bustard, the low-angled lighting and the OOF BG allowing it to be seen well and the sharpness is excellent.
I agree with your ID: it is a Rüppell's Korhaan.
Must be a new species on TN: congratulations both for that and the fine quality of this image!
Ivan

Hallo Annick,
Groet,
Peter
