Thank you very much for your critiques. I read through the notes and in the future I will edit my uploads according to what I learned from your critiques and comments.

Today’s post is one of the two male lions I was talking about in my previous post.
I’ve been studying my images and so I think the lion in my first post and the lion in my second post are two different animals. I call them male#1 and male#2 respectively.
And this post is once again male#1.

“Maybe the same one, maybe not…” a critique from
Mehmet K. Atatur - BSc in natural sciences, MSc., PhD. in zoology-herpetology, assoc. and full professorship in Hydrobiology. Lecturer/Researcher (Ret.), Aegean University Fac. of Sciences, Div. of Biology - Bornova, Izmir - TURKEY

…this is a dedication to Mehmet and his wonderful world of the "Ancient submariner".

Normally I don’t post images of an animal on the gravel road in Kruger or Etosha.
But maybe this photo could have a certain value in terms of anatomical directions to describe the Panthera leo bleyenberghi, known as the Southwest African or Katanga Lion.
Is this the left side of the animal, Professor? Guess I have to come back next year.:-)

Have a nice day!

Hi Annick,
Excellent capture of this lion.POV,lighting, details and composition are wonderful.I don't liked his look:)
Thanks for posting.

I love the composition - quite obviously, he is male! His eyes are clear, the way he has turned back to look at you seems to show both his intelligence, and I suspect, disdain.

You're not a meal, but neither are you, after some thought, a threat. Great DOF and stunning details of his body. I don't think I want to tangle with him.

Hola Annick.
It is always a pleasure to look Your work and read the notes.
This male lion has a lovely pose in the middle of the road, looking at You. WOW
Excellent image my friend.
Luis52.

Hi Annick
You seem to have been very lucky to have seen such good sightings of the lions. This photo shows off the male lion in all its majesty. I personnally don't have any problem with photos taken on the gravel roads as they are natural surfaces - it is the tarred roads that usually detract somewhat from the photo.TFS. Mike

Hi Annick,

Your lions have all been well captured and definitely show them to be in beter condition than the lions in Kruger. The ground in Etosha is very white which can cause problems with the exposure so well handled. E mail sent to you comes back with an "unknown host" error.

Merhaba Dostum Annick,

Gravel road or not, Annick, this is a remarkable image. I realize this may be a common occurrance for you, but for the rest of us, this is amazing. The shot itself is solid but subtle and shows the majesty of this beautiful beast.

What a deep serious look he is giving you Annick. Both photos of your male lions are great.
He looks so 'friendly' here - as he shows no fear of you.
Excellent capture, even if he is on the road

Hello Annick,

This is a good capture of the king himself ;-). I love the look he has on this picture, very calm yet arrogant. The lighting, focusing and sharpness are spot on. The details and colors with natural tones are shown well. TFS.
