I compared this fellow with the image in the new updated edition of the Road Map and Photo Gallery of Etosha or Touristenkarte und Fotogalerie von Etoscha and figured out this might be the Glossy starling or in German the Rotschulterglanzstar.
In October 2007 I was able to photograph very similar birds in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Greater blue-eared starling.
I verified both identifications(the names) through the Howard&Moore Checklist(3e Ed., Revised to December31,2006) I got from Steve Pryor and saw there were a lot of Glossy starling species. So I don't know what kind of starling specie this is. Could it be the Cape glossy starling?
About the Kruger image(link) I saw that in above mentioned bird list the Greater Blue-eared Starling is listed and the Greater blue-eared 'glossy' starling isn't.

It's captured while bathing along a gravel road in Etosha National Park.
There was a lot of water throughout Etosha. Some roads were blocked due to the heavy rainfall.

Thanks for looking and have a very nice day!

Hi Annick. I would not be able to help with its name as this is a new bird for me. So thanks for posting. You have taken this picture with fine detail and bright colours. The orange eye stands out so well. TFS.
Nick..

Have a nice Easter.

Hello Annick,
I agree, this is likely to be the Cape Glossy Starling (L. nitens) because of the relatively plain-cloured head with no dark patch behind the eye.
Goos pose and POV well taken as it bathes.
Thanks and regards,
Ivan

Hallo Annick,
Volkomen eens met jouw suggestie en Ivan, de Roodschouderglansspreeuw, Cape Glossy Starling. Veel andere soorten komen trouwens in die omgeving niet voor. Mooie foto. Beetje klein (590 x 407). Schitterende opvallende kleuren in de zacht gekleurde omgeving.
Goed Paasweekende,
Peter

Hi Annick,

Wow those colours are amazing, superb detail in the plumage, reminds me of our Saturn Bower Bird a little. Love the low POV looks great in its natural enviroment, stunning eye to.

Cheers Rick :)

What a lovely bird Annick, with dark bluish feathers with metallic hues and a startling orange eye, captured expertly against the light coloured water body which looks like a light coloured sandy terrain from here! TFS this nice image my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Anncik.
What a cute and funny a bit photo model which ignores you absolutely and gives you opportunity to take so wonderful shot. I like how well dark blue coloration of the bird corresponds with simple colours of the scenery. DOF is excellent. I like some blurriness of the BG and great details of the bird, its eye and feather especially. Well done and kind wishes.
Alexei.

Bonjour Annick,
Meilleures salutations
Anne
