[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Two habitats overlap here. Kudu are leaf eaters and are particularly comfortable in the bushveld environment here and further to the east. Being rather elusive, even though quite common in that habitat, kudu bulls are a favourite with hunters for their magnificent horns. Zebra are well adapted to desert environments and are often seen in the Namib Desert a short distance to the west where they survive for long periods on sparse succulent growth only. They also dig shallow holes in the sand with their hooves in areas with a high water table. The white calcrete on the surface is common in arid areas with a high evaporation rate, with the calcium carbonate precipitating at and just below the ground surface, intensifying the brightness of illumination of the environment with its high reflectance.

PS: Will someone please tell me how to select more than one category as bushveld and desert are both relevant here.

Hallo Neels,
Excellent capture that reminds me of Etosha (Sub-Sahara terrain) in the dry season. Light balance, golden colours and detail, POV and BG is superb.
Best regards,
Carl

Hello Neels,
In my memory these are the typical colours of Ethosha, In daytime grey and golden colours in the morning and late evening.
Very nice photo with an excellent DOF and composition.
Vriendelijke Groeten,
Peter

Good evening Neels,
glad to see a post from you once again. To be honest this image here brings mixed feelings in me. On one hand, I love the surrealistic impression with the those powerful yellow/golden colors and the sheer abundance of different animals. What a paradise! On the other hand, I can hardly see something positive in the executed exposure. The White balance seems terribly wrong, the shutter speed unnecessarily slow for the situation, the depth of field is in the middle of nowhere, the missing focal point and the unbalanced composition is spoiling the view somehow. So Hit or a Miss ...that is the question, but just like in life the greatest things are always controversial ...

George Veltchev

Fascinating to see these colors here . Great shot of that male kudu as well.

Hello Neels,
A very interesting picture, nice to see all different animals in the one frame, you have done good job under the difficult lighting condition,
Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend,
Best Regards,
Bungbing.

Somehow I like this special dreamy picture of African fauna. Original and unusual shot with a certain visual impact.
