Redwinged Starling Onychognathus morio Family STURNIDAE. They are a common species of mountainous and hilly country. Blue-black plummage. Young birds have black heads like males. Female has grey head. Paired birds remain mated for life and are seldom found far apart, being very companionable.
Reference: Roberts Birds of South Africa
These two pairs of starlings were sitting on the telephone wire, chattering away at each other. It seemed as if they were exchanging village gossip.
Technical: Shot in RAW. Cropped and sharpened. Resized for upload. |

well done & take care, thor.
Hello, my friend,
I like this shot! It made me laugh! The two on the right look to be watching carefully the technique of the bird near left! " Mm, that's how you do it! Cuddle up close! Whisper sweet nothings in her ear! Looks to be working well! She's all fluffed up!" Great shot!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
ps Thank you for your kind feedback on 'Purple spear'.
Hi Irmgard
Thanks for the critique.
I have none on this, but do have praise for the nice proportion of this. The 4 birds make a nice presentation along with the cable and pole.
The details of birds with black can be hard sometimes, but you managed it.
