| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| The dassie or hyrax (Procavia capensis)has appeared on TrekNature a few times before, and most of the photographers picked up on its close evolutionary relationship to elephants. Recently however it has been determined that they are no longer the closest relatives (that position now being held by dugongs and manatees), but it is still a remarkable example of evolutionary biology. This pic is not that wonderful, but the model was worth uploading onto the site. Do yourself a favour and read-up a little about this remarkable animal. its worth it. |
