Common resident. flocks frequent dense bush, scrub, forest fringes and suburbia in moist areas.
caught this at witpoorjie botanical garden. these birds are so shy they fly away the instant you approach them.

Paul, despite the shyness of the bird, you did great.

I like a lot. There is some noise on the background. I guess the Blur Tool, on Photoshop, could easily remove it.

The bird is very beautiful; I've never seen one of them.

Very nice capture.Pose of bird,eye contact,lighting,POV and composition are excellent.TFS...:-)

Right from the first time I saw this shot Paul, I loved it. The pose of the bird is excellent. He/she is looking directly at you. You have capture the catchlight in the eye and the head plumage is fantastic the way it stands erect. The image quality was not the best and the flower down the right sde and the aloe leaves are distracting. The bird itself is too dark. Off and on during the day I thought about how this could be enhanced to show its true beauty. I think I have succeeded in the workshop I have posted. I hope you like it.

I've been meaning to come back to this shot. I saw it the other day but had allocated all my points for the day. This is a really nice shot. You've captured a good moment and it's really nice and sharp. You've got a good catchlight working there. Well done.
