Grey Hornbill (Tockus nasutus)(Female)
The Grey Hornbill is found in the northern parts of south Africa. Habitat is savanna and bushveld.
The male has a dark bill and the female has a blood-red tip to its bill.
These hornbills feed on a large variety of foods including, insects, small reptiles, small mammals, seeds and fruit.
Their nest is a hole in a tree. There usually is a chimney above the entrance. The male seals the female into the nest with mud. The female breaks out of the nest about three weeks after the first egg hatches and the nestlings seal the entrance leaving a small hole to be fed through. |

Hi Leon,
Interesting Hornbil. Your subject is sharp and clear and the DOF is just right. Great shot,
regards
Matt.
Leon,
This is a great portrait of the Grey Hornbill.
No critique at all. Very well done.
Nevertheless I 'm going to try a workshop in levels tool to see if photo couldn't generate a little more contrast and so..see you!
TFS and congrats
Annick

Beautiful close-up of the Grey Hornbill showing the sharp eye and details of his big beak against the gentle background.
