I was able to shot some of these kingfisher while in South Africa, but there is no way I would have been able to have as much detail as this with the equipment I had... and still have to be honest :-)

Excellent capture on this Kingfisher. The color is certainly eye popping on this fellow.

Hi Gerhard, brilliant capture, great details and very nice composition of this stunning bird. I dont think the colours here are over-sat but you are on the limit Id say. Most animal pics benefit from a boast and this is the case here, its very effective for this shot. 8/10 Excellent work.

Magnificient colors!

Technically, exposure and focus perfect.

Artistically, good DOF with blured BG, bird stand in lower part of the frame so not to centered and I love the diagonal branch. And excellent colors saturation (normal when exposure is perfect) ;o)

Yes, I had an invite to the site by my nephew, so I dropped the hippos along the way. As you know, time is tight, but I will post the impies as soon as I have time - I must at least comment again on the last posts.
We have discussed this gem - you know I think it rocks - I must still try the affect myself.
Sold 3 lenses, have the new Nikor baby, must senf you some shots.
Sorry I could not make it with Paul on Sunday - it was our last day out before Pietta's op today.

Hi Gerhard, I don't know much about Malachite Kingfishers so cannot advise on the colour but wow, it is striking. I thought our native Kingfishers were bright and cheerful but this one beats it hands down. It's a great image: sharp, detailed and a great BG to match the colours of the bird. Nicely done :)
