Common resident. The crest is normally held down, being raised when the bird is attentive or alarmed. Females and immatures are duller than males. Has an undulating, butterfly-like flight, black and white wings, then conspicuous.

Really agreat shot of this hoopoo, in a very nice composition. Sharpness and the colours are great.
You were very lucky I saw the hoopoe only high in a tree.

Hello Farid,
This is a fine shot of an African Hoopoe. It is well composed and sharp with fine BG. But it is too dark, so I've used the WS to improve it.

What a superb capture!
The single bird would have been enough for a beautiful post, but the moment you managed here is magnificent!
The POV is excellent, the exposure is great and the sharpness is amazing considerring the focal length.
