[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Burchell's Zebra ( Bontsebra) Equus burchelli
Shoulder height 1,23m;
Males 315kg, females 300kg
They are grazers but will also browse. Live mostly in grasslands in large herds.
Foals may be born any time of the year and suckle for about 11months.

This picture was taken in the Polokwane Nature Reserve. I tried my best to get some good shots. The zebra's were going about their business peacefully when 3 lone impala rams crossed their path. Some charged the impala and chased them off. In the meantime, the stallion had other things on his mind. The mare was unrelenting. Everytime I clicked the shot it was either blurred or blocked by some bush. The whole thing happened very quickly and before I could really get anything spectacular, they were gone into the bush.
Too bad, maybe next time I'll get a great shot.
Tomorrow I'll post a mug shot of the stallion.

Willie, Nice moment captured! Maybe you should've called it "Kiss My Butt"!! ;-) I'm waiting with baited breath for that "mushot"! Enjoyed your note on the shooting circumstances for this one. Good job!!

Very nice image, Willie. Interesting note as well.

I too look forward to the mugshot. I love zebras and this shot portrays them very naturally. The image is sharp and the exposure is well balanced between the whites and blacks.

Thanks for posting

Chance or patience to get a shot like this one. Usully in the bush we can't approach them. When I was in MALAWI, I saw zebras only from helicopter.
Well done.
Thanks.

Ready ... set ... ouch ...
