A close encounter with an Ellie in Kruger is always a bit an adrenaline event. These are big fellows compared to you and they know it.:-)
Add to this the trunk, tusks, big impressive ears, that weird and fascinating sound of their 'GPS' system and last but not least their eyes....
The latter are looking very intelligent; as if they know everything. They are also a bit frightening as if they are saying: you are still there 'cause I want you to be there(well, not really...); as a matter of fact they are 'laughing' in your face but not in a rude way. At the same time they are expressing some sadness.
So far my scientific approach of a pachyderm's eye:-)

Image is captured in Kruger at day 5 of my self drive safari. Overnight restcamp was Olifants.

Hi Annick. This is a very close up of the Elephants eye. You have captured such detail in the wrinkly skin with natural colous.the eye stands out so well with its brown colour. and long lashes . As you say they often look so sad. well done TFS.

Hi Annick,
Outstanding shot of this Pachyderm's eye with immaculate sharpness and clarity. The calm eye and the cracked/wrinkled skin combine together well. Superb lighting and exposure levels and the composition is marvellous. Thanks for sharing.

hello annick,
this closeup shot is quite different from the usual, the texture of the skin looks great with so much of the details, liked the composition,

Hi Annick,
A superb abstract capture of this Elephant. Very well composed with very good DOF and sharp details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Annick,

You have managed to get detail of the eyeball itself and this is usually difficult to do, there is usually too much shadow there. Nice detail in the skin to show the texture and good composition overall.

with the 400 mm you were pretty close!!!

Hello Annick, A very nice shot and so sharp. Great focus and you can actually see the eyes are covered with hair. Excellent wrinkles on the face and the markings. Great shot and nice composition. Ganesh

Hello Annick!
This one is rather different. The eye close-up is more artictic than documentary as for me :) And this is nice to see different points of view for animals :)
Nice work, and TFS.
Friendly yours,
Radomir

Hi Annick

This is really deep! A very dramatic and strong composition from you and i think you mastered it!
The texture of the skin, the color of the eyes and the overall light are absolutely excellent and combined with the positioning of the elements in the frame give away this beautiful and very original shot.
Great work, my friend! Many TN-ers should learn from this!

BRAVO and TFS
