[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
After uploading a Baobab periderm yesterday, it's time for another pachyderm; an African elephant.

I don't know whether it's a male or female. When being close, I always checked their behaviour first:-). This one was definitely busy eating these delicious bush branches. And it certainly helps when you have such impressive molars which you can't see unfortunately.
More in depth info about these pachyderms in my travelogue...

Thanks for looking and have a nice weekend.

Bonsoir Annick,
Anne

Hi Annick. When you look at the trunk of the Elephant it looks like the tree bark you posted yesterday. i would think this is as close as you need to be to one in the wild. Excellent detail i nthe trunk and tusk. with natural colours. well done TFS.
Nick..

very nice composition and details.

That meal looks a bit dry! It must take a lot of them to get enough nourishment to keep an elephant going. I'd think there would be no plants left after a while.

This photo meets my "expectations" of you! You have a great eye for composition and getting just the right crop.

I saw a movie last week called EARTH - and small part of it followed a herd of elephants migrating to the water in Africa. Super film - no humans, all nature and animals. I think it was made by a BBC TV crew.
It opened my eyes to these magnificent beasts and what they go through in their wanderings.
I love your tight crop here Annick. She does look rather placid at the moment. It's a lovely shot - thank you.
Janice

Hello Annick,
Amazing close up, great details & POV of this elephant by you. TFS.
Regards-Subhash

Hi Annick,

Very good exposure to show the skin texture and you have also shown the difference between the two tusks which occurs because the elephant uses the one more than the other depending whether they are left or right handed.

Robin

Hi Annick

Hi Annick.
Thanks for uploading this image after baobab. Stunning skin details and very nice scene at whole. Dry crisp sharp twigs on FG and nice smooth light green BG are create a nice decoration for big animal. I welcome the most impressive framing. Bravo.
