Vultures are large scavenging birds with a head more or less devoid of feathers - heavy hooked bills and feet not adapted for grasping as in other birds of prey.
They feed on dead animals, which are sought while soaring at great height. The descent of the first bird is the starting signal for the others to converge on the same spot. (When we still lived on the farm, vultures circling above were the sign, that an animal had died...)
In this area are six vulture species recorded i.e. Whitebacked Vulture, Cape Vulture, Hooded Vulture, Whiteheaded Vulture, Lappetfaced Vulture and not often the Egyptian Vulture.

Hello Ingrid !
Ah yes, here they are the famous Vultures ! I have seen them in the wild only once, flying in circles over my head, and they were so impressive... I really do like them. I see at least two different species here, plus the Marabou Storks, which is great because it is always interesting to see different species interact with each other. The quality of the picture is splendid, as well. Very well done !
