pied kingfisher (ceryle rudis).
got this shot at lake panic bird at skukuza, krugerpark. after the catch it beats the fish left and right on wood until it became soft enough for swallowing. another lucky day.

Nice capture Paul,if a little soft in focus (zooom/no tripod?)
That fish looks too big for that little bird.
What an incredibly sharp beak!

Nice picture, Paul.
Good POV, well composed and nice colours.
It's little soft and I think it's the noise in BG who is the trouble not camera shaking, you used 1/1250sec.
I did a WS.
Well done.

Lovely capture - agree with the noise aspect, but its still a great shot. Well done. Tim

Halo Paul!

Nice capture Paul. You've got a very good background here though a bit noisy but can be cured easily.
Well done.

Lovely image Paul, you caught a great moment here. Yes, there is noise but Gert has done another great workshop to show that it can easily be dealt with. Noise aside it is a great image - well composed, sharp and good DOF - and one I'd be very proud to own :)

Paul, the subject is a bit centered a lttlie shift to the right would have improved the composition. Do you use the different focus points on the camera? The exposure also looks a bit low key. The action do make up for it though. Impressive capture this shot is high on my wishlist.

Great capture of the capture. (I haven't looked yet, but I won't be surprised if this line has already been used)
Not so lucky for the fish.
Well done and thank you.

Wonderful photo. You have done a great job capturing a special moment. Bravo!

Hi Paul,

This is a fantastic action shot of the bird in its habitat. You probably had to crop quite aggresively, thus the noise and softness. Well done. I tried my hand at improving the sharpness and noise. What do you think?

Jan-Hendrik.
