| The hippo is one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. It can be extremely agressive and will attack if its teritory is invaded or its route to water is blocked. Extremely agile for its bulk especially in the water and easily outruns humans. Usually found in water during the day to keep cool and will graze at night on any plant matter. It has been said that it's sweat contains a UV blocking chemical for protection from the sun. This photo was taken with a borrowed 600mm Canon lens with a 1.4 X converter |

Good catch Robin, what a cute little fellow this baby hippo is. It is such a miniature of its mother. She would be very protective of it if you were too close to them. Just as well you had that lens.
And well done with that lens too - what a lens!!
