[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The little farming village of Hektorspruit, lies on the N4 national road just outside (in the south of) the Kruger National Park.

The surrounds of this rather humid part of South Africa are given over to rolling fields of sugarcane, tropical fruits or game farms.

It’s a laid-back, friendly area and life slows down to a peaceful and casual crawl, due in no small way to the pervasive warm humidity - and to the less insistent pace of nature.

The Malelane gate to the west is one of the main entrances into the Kruger National Park,
which means that the farms that surround it, cater for visitors to the park.There are some excellent lodges and Bed & Breakfasts.

Awakening in the bush, the rising sun an impetus for morning bird calls -
or the incredible experience of the bush at night, is what draws so many people to spend time in this area.


We go there in winter, because in summer it is too hot-humid / like a steam bath (whereas Hoedspruit's climate is hot but dry) -
and Mosquitos thrive and Malaria protection is needed.

The photo was taken early in the morning from our cottage-terrace, on a farm south of Hektorspruit (on the road to the border post into Swaziland).
On this particular farm are no dangerous animals, hence one can walk everywhere in the bush and/or sit in a deckchair and read,
while Giraffes etc come drinking to the dam.

Hi Ingrid,
Excellent shot of this winter morning scene and the mist creates a lovely mood here. Very neat image and I like the golden light on the grass and the near-silhouetted trunks and branches. Very pleasing composition and I am so happy to see a small part of your place through your lens. Kudos.

Hello Ingrid,
A very fine picture of this area close to Kruger. You have caught here a very subtle atmosphere with the mist giving a mysterious note to the picture. I also like the contrast between the dark trees in the front and the evaporated background. Natural colors which I appreciate especially.
