Well; I have been saving this one for a while. I love Zebra’s and I love portraits, so here you have a portrait of a young zebra. Usually when shooting wildlife in the wild, one to not have the luxury of time to review all the settings on the camera and plan the shot – by the time you have done that, there will be other animals or no animals at all in front of the lens. I was lucky with this one – This young zebra was just standing there, sampling the grass as it is doing here. It gave me a lot of time to review my settings to do things like they are supposed to be done and here is the result. Besides cropping and Levels there have been very little PP in this shot.

I have mentioned before that Zebras are some of my favourite subject and they are the Jokers of nature.

The camera settings:

Program Setting: Aperture Priority
Focal Length: 119mm
F Stop: F/9
Shutter Speed: 1/160sec
ISO: 200
Tripod: No
Flash: Diffused Off Camera ETTL.
Reflective Panel: No
Cable release: No
White Balance: Sunlight

Ha Japie,

This young one is already exercising in smiling! Life must be one big hollidat over there. Nice one!

Thanks,

Hendrik

Hi Japie

Splendid shot of this young one. Doesn't appear to have a care in the world. Lucky you for having the time to get the camera set just right. This is wonderful to view. gotta be a favourite!

Cute factor - over the Top - this is one of the best images of a baby Zebbie I have seen
Compo - just right, he has sapce to look into
Impact - A wow factor here, the Lucky Luke straw in the mouth adding the little something that makes this stand out.
Overall verdict - wish it was mine
Mooi een Japie, no nits

Great portrait of the Zebra Japie.
Very good pose and composition, great sharpness and colours.
And a very good and informative note as usual.
Great work.

Well done on the portrait of the young Zebra. Soft enough to pet. Another shot with warm lighting. Excelent.

Mike

Stunning Japie. Excellent portrait. Good DOF and POV. Very well done

Outstanding, Japie! This baby looks so soft, I want to reach out and stroke his fur! You caught a cute, baby-ish expression, too. Very well-executed shot. Adding to my favorites! -Jenn

The fact that you love the zebras shows through in this photo, Japie.
I love this one. so innocent, like you wrote, so beautifull.
Thanks for sharing so nice pictures and notes.

This two Zebras are just how I like, warm, sharp, artistic and BIG. When you have nothing to hide, the feeling comes out of the frame. Thanks Japie.
PD: I like the comment of "the jokers of nature" :D
I am poor, I will wait for some credits.

Exquisite detail. The softness of this youngsters coat can be seen very clearly. Crisp details and a wonderfull compo. The sun catching it just right. Great shot, Japie. Well done.
