African elephants cool their bodies down by opening their ears to allow for air circulation around the arteries. This shot was taken while on a game drive near Sun City, South Africa.

Hello Beatrix - welcome to TrekNature. What a cute picture you have for us to see. Quite a funny point of view, taken from behind of the elephant's behind!
I'm sorry some of the left ear is cropped off, but I realise that it isn't always easy to get a moving elephant's ear in a photo.
Well captured though
Thanks for sharing
Jancie
Hi Beatrix,
This is such a cute photo, and your caption is so very apt. Great image to enter Treknature with - wish you a warm welcome. I've done a small workshop adjusting the brightness and contrast, I hope you don't mind :) Thanks for sharing this photo.
Cheers, Uma
Hi Beatrix,
this is a bit of a bum shot!!
Super composition, great subject matter.

I just had to drop in and give this one two points just for it's clever title. :)
Welcome to Treknature!
You know, really the outline of the ears and rump is very interesting artistically. And you did a great job with sharpness.
:)
