Namaqualand in the north-west of South Africa is a sunburnt and barren semi-desert. But that changes dramatically in spring, when after a short rainy season the countless wildflowers spread over the wide plains like a colourful carpet. Most of the flowers belong to the different species of daisies.

Bonjour Albert,

Fred

indeed god's garden, wish to be there next year, and specific recommendations for localities ? Ori

Bonjour Albert,

Hello Albert,
What a beautiful splash of flowers. Great place, and great picture.
Thanks for sharing.

What a beautiful scene. The variety of color is fantastic as is the large DOF.

Hello Albert,
How could I miss this picture of paradise! I've seen scenes like this on nature films and it is really most impressive. I wonder for how long the flowers stay in bloom?
Many thanks for this wonderful capture! Ulla

Hallo Albert
I have been living in South Africa since the day I was born and up to date not have the privilege to see the splendor of Namakwa land. I once read somewhere that when all the flowers are blooming and on their prettiest it looks like somebody overturned all the colours of paint they could have laid their hands on. Looking at your photo, I tend to agree. Is the creation and nature not amazing? I think it would be an absolute feast walking through this field of wildflowers, stopping at each one, looking and admiring and then photograph it. The variety of colours are incredible. Thanking you kindly for sharing this lovely image.
Kind regards
Anna

Hello Albert,
Thanks for placing me in your favourite list. It is an honour I really don't deserve.
Your capture of this beautiful expanse of wild flowers reminds me of a similar phenomenon occuring in Kuwait in early spring when after a few showers of rain, tiny yellow flowers would bloom out of sheer sand, turning the drabest of places into little gardens. It would be a short-lived event and my heart would break seeing them wilt away after a few days.
In your picture, I stand with you at your vantage point and enjoy looking at God's lovely garden stretching into the distance.
Thanks for this divine view and best regards.
